9 101 X Rooms surrounding the Great Bath may have accommodated priests. These contained bathrooms with steps on which a person could stand to pour water over the bather. Some of the largest houses in the lower town also had this facility.

-1 101 Z The citadel consisted of a huge mudbrick platform protected by baked brick retaining walls. On it were a number of buildings; some may have housed Mohenjo Daro's rulers, others were probably for religious activities.
#CITADEL
12 101 X The floor of this structure was raised on brick pillars allowing the circulation of air beneath. It may have been a state granary in which perhaps grain paid in taxes was stored.

13 101 X A grand staircase led up to the citadel from the plain below. A small bathroom adjoined the entrance to the citadel at the top of the stair, presumably to allow bathing for ritual purification before entering the sacred precinct.

11 103 C A large rectangular basin, 39 ft x 23 ft x 8 ft deep (11.7 m x 6.9 m x 2.4 m), built of bricks and made watertight with bitumen, is the most impressive structure on the citadel mound. It was probably used for ritual bathing or purification as part of religious ceremonies.
